To roll the dice means to assume a risk by taking action. It is often said in business that the greater the risk, the higher the potential reward. If an opportunity for tremendous gain presents itself, a manager might say, “Let’s roll the dice and start this project. If it works, our stock price will definitely increase, and our bonuses will be twice what they were last year!”

  • Roll the Dice. I really like this phrase and have been using it as an expression of positive reinforcement after a decision is made. Sort of like a ‘high five’ slap, but with the hand motion of rolling the dice!!
