Five Ways to Ruin an Application Essay
BusinessWeek.com’s Alison Damast contributes a forthright account of five mistakes in writing B-school essays, and clarifies how to avoid them.
Mistakes include:
- Too much information
- Ignoring rules
- Showboating
- Bad-mouthing others
- The Shakespeare syndrome
One thing I would add to the ignoring rules section is failing to answer the question. Admissions Directors around the country often comment that this is the biggest mistake an applicant can make!
