Words of the Week – get the ball rolling

Get the ball rolling means to start a task or project, even if you do not have all of the necessary information for completing it. The point is to begin so you can gain momentum to power you through to completion.

I am currently working on a partnership opportunity for MBA in the USA™ intercultural workshops. Being a natural researcher, I planned to conduct a few interviews before submitting ideas for a proposal, but was unable to make that happen in a timely fashion. I emailed my potential partner with several ideas and a plan to generate additional options. Here’s an excerpt: “I’m sure those meetings will generate many more ideas, but I wanted to get the ball rolling since I promised you feedback as soon as possible.” I’m really excited about this opportunity – fingers crossed!
