Words of the Week – in a nutshell

In a nutshell (image: Fiona…Rae)

In a nutshell means a concise summary. If someone misses class due to an interview, and they have just a few minutes before their next class, they may say to a teammate, “Tell me what I missed in a nutshell.” The teammate would respond with the highlights of the last class briefly and succinctly, allowing both people to return their focus to the front of the classroom before the Professor begins.
