In business, own is a powerful verb meaning to master or dominate your topic or field, in other words to be the best. Own is often spoken with significant passion and respect for the subject. For example, “She absolutely owned that presentation. I’m sure she’s going to get the funding she asked for and be the first to market. I’m glad we’re on her team.”
