Kick Off

To kick off means to begin, and it usually always involves a meeting. In school, there will be kick off meetings for clubs like Net Impact and the Finance Club. Back in the working world, there will be kick off meetings for new product launches and new committees.

The term’s origins are found in US football where each game starts with a kick off; the defensive team kicks the ball to the offensive team, and the game begins.
